Market: Goa win
Odds: 2/5 @ 888sport
Hoping to clinch back-to-back ISL victories on Thursday afternoon, Goa will welcome East Bengal to the Fatorda Stadium.
Starting with the hosts, while Goa might have found themselves in the midst of an extended rut on either side of opening the New Year, Carlos Pena’s men claimed a much-needed boost last weekend. Eventually breezing their way to a 3-1 victory at home against Kerala Blasters, the Gaurs will now be smelling a golden chance to secure back-to-back ISL victories here. Although the Oranges might still be seeking some defensive stability over recent months, Thursday’s hosts have continued to shine on home soil. Including last weekend’s 3-1 victory against Kerala, Goa have won three of their last four top-flight showdowns at the Fatorda Stadium. With that run highlighted by a thumping 3-0 romp when they welcomed Odisha to town last month, Pena’s men are rightfully tipped as a standout pick here.
As for the visitors, while East Bengal might have claimed a much-needed 2-1 victory a home against Bengaluru last month, it appears that was just a minor boost for Stephen Constantine’s men. Last seen putting in another downbeat display as they slumped to a deserved 2-0 defeat at home against Hyderabad, the Bangal Brigade are battling it out at the foot of the ISL standings. Likewise, along with losing each of their last three top-flight showdowns by an aggregate score of 7-2, it’s also worth highlighting that the midweek guests have lost five of their previous six ISL battles – a run that stems back to November 27th. Knowing that they face a tough test when they travel to the Fatorda Stadium, East Bengal were also hit with a 2-1 loss when they last faced off against Goa back on October 12th.
