The 2023-24 edition is about to get under way, so which sides are best-equipped to lift the trophy next June?
The Champions League proper is ready to return! The draw for the group stage took place in Monte Carlo on Thursday evening and produced some incredible pools. Indeed, we even have a ‘Group of Death’, with Paris Saint-Germain having been thrown in with Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Newcastle.
But can anyone really stop Manchester City from making a successful title defence? Bayern Munich will certainly fancy their chances after signing Harry Kane from Tottenham during the summer, while PSG must still be considered contenders given they’ve strengthened their squad significantly – and managed to keep Kylian Mbappe out of the clutches of Real Madrid.
The latter will obviously challenge – they always do – but what about Spanish champions Barcelona? Can the Catalans finally get back into the knockout stages? And will Serie A sides shine again, after accounting for three of last season’s quarter-finalists?
